Dodger Stadium: Move to Downtown LA?
My first blog on here. I was going to talk about the Dodgers Owner Frank McCourt and how we need a new owner and so on but I want to talk about something that I feel that needs to be talked about. I’ve been going to Dodger games at Dodger Stadium since I was 7. (First time was 7th Birthday.) I love going to a game at Dodger Stadium and going every year makes it even more special. Today I read an article on the LA Times about how McCourts fall could mean the return of the NFL to LA. In there it mentioned a NFL Stadium being built in Chavez Ravine and making a brand new Dodger Stadium right next to Staples. This isn’t the first time Dodger Stadium was mentioned with an NFL Stadium but its basiclly been about extending the stadium or building right next to it.
Now yest Dodger Stadium is outdated and LA Times seems to like Angels Stadium better than Dodger Stadium but I am 100% against a new Dodger Stadium being built just to place a NFL Stadium in its place. Alot of Dodger fans will agree with me on this but None of us want a new Dodger stadium especially in Downtown LA. I want the NFL back as baddly as anyone else but Chavez Ravine is not the place for it. Chavez Ravine is a perfect place for it and thats why walter O’mally picked it. Theres no other place for Dodger Stadium that I can think of but building a new stadium just to place a NFL Stadium in its place is just plain stupid. The Dodgers draw a big crowd and theres really no parking for that many people. Another issue I have is that it Just won’t be the same. The Stadium will be alot smaller and condenced than Chavez Ravine and look at the new Yankees Stadium for example. Fans really don’t like the design of it and the seating is just killer.
There is a better way to upgrade Dodger Stadium without rebuilding and thats by renovating the Stadium. Theres already plans of upgrading the other areas of Dodger Stadium and enterance views but thats really about it. I think the Stadium needs a complete renovation and theres too many to list but I’m more for that than moving it. If you need a NFL Stadium built then take it to City of Industry or Downtown LA but Im not for a move or a Stadium right by it either because of parking. I know this topic will come up again in the future and that can be prevented with the renovation of Dodger Stadium but before any of that can be done we need a Owner that is willing to tackel these issues and once we have that happen the talk of moving Dodger Stadium will be here. Lets Say NO to a new Stadium in Downtown Los Angeles or Anywhere. Want a State of the Art Stadium…RENOVATE BLUE HEAVEN ON EARTH!!!
