Dodgers Questions for the 2012 Season
The 2012 MLB Season is fastly approching and with Pitchers and catchers a month away and Spring Training comming up its a good time to ask some questions that will be answered as the season unfolds. The Off-Season featured extentions, Question on ownership and TV deals, signings and etc now its time put the stories to bed and Play some ball.
1. Will The Dodgers have a new Owner before Opening Day?
This has been the Question since McCourt agreed to sale the team. There has been reports that the bidding may get pushed back and so on but the expected date is April 30th. Keep fingers crossed for a new owner before Opening day but I don’t see it happening till after.
2. Will Ethier have a better season in 2012 than 2011?
Last Season Andre Ethier started off pretty good going on a 30 game hit streak but kind of fell off and got injured towards the end putting him out for the rest of the season. Some say his attitude wasn’t all there and it could be to the blame of the whole Ownership issue. This year will be a contract year for Andre after signing a one year deal so you can bet he will do what he can to raise his game.
3. Can James Loney Build off the momentum from the end of 2011?
James Loney had a sub-par disapointing 2011 Season up till the final few games of the season where he absolutely Batted better. Like Ethier Loney is in the final year of his contract and is in a Contract year. The Gold glover will look to build off that final few games of the 2011 season to launch him in 2012. Can he step up?
4. What can the new players bring to the table?
In the Off-Season the Dodgers signed Mark Ellis, Adam Kennedy, and Chris Capauna. Small bargin signing s as others called them. Many Dodger fans will be wondering if they can step up and help. Yes they may not allll contribute but who knows. Even the littlest things can help.
5. Will the Dodger pitching Improve?
Outside of Kershaw, Jansen, and Guerra the Dodger pitching was up and down…Most times down. Billingsley was in consistent, Ted Lilly giving up Home Runs, and the Bullpen giving way games. The huge question will be Can Billingsley stay consistent and not melt down, Ted Lilly stop giving up Home Runs left and right, Bullpen keep the lead? But there is a bright future with Rubby De la Rosa and Nathian Eovaldi as the starting pitchers and Jansen and Guerra in the Bullpen and a Farm system full of Pitchers things are looking up but for this season the Improvement of the Pitching has to get better. While where on improvement…..
6. Can Juan Uribe finally live up to expectiaions?
When the Dodgers signed Juan Uribe from the Giants a lot of us thought he would provide the Bat the Dodgers needed but the 2011 Season was a big disapointment grounding out and striking out most of the time batting .204 5 HR and 28 RBI. This season Uribe who will be comming off injury will have to provide for the Dodgers in some way. a repeat of last seasons performance will frustrate alot of people and a spot out the line up.
7. Can Kershaw and Kemp Continue their success?
The Main question everyone will ask for the 2012 Season. Can Kershaw and Kemp continue their success that they had in 2011? Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp and great 2011 Seasons which lead to hardware for them. Kershaw who won 21 Games won the NL Cy-Young and every season continues to improve while Matt Kemp who lead in almost every major offensive catagory in MLB and almost reached 40/40 didn’t win the NL MVP but made the season worth it and got himself a 160 Million dollar 8 Year deal in the offseason. He even said he will go for 50/50 in 2012. The huge key to a successful season this year starts with these two. If Kemp and Kershaw can have a Monster year then it’ll be up to the rest of the Dodgers bring the help.
8. Can the Dodgers put it together?
No Doubt the Los Angeles Dodgers are a talented team that can win the Division but can they put all of it together? If they bring it together you’re looking at dangerous team but they have to put it together and do it at the right time. Get hot too early you can fade off, Get hot too late it’ll be either too late or play yourself into the playoffs and farther. But they have to put it together at sometime. Distractions are basically gone! Its Time For Dodger Baseball!!
